Good Friday

Concluding our worship service on 30th March Ian commented …

No morning tea today, but gather at 12 for soup and hot cross buns at Adrian and Anita’s it is right that Christ’s people should be together on this most holy day because we are a community born at the cross.

Alistair and Colma provided us with the opportunity to sample 17 different varieties of soup all labelled so we knew what we were tasting.

Ray and his trio of helpers Natalie, Daniel and Patrick, together with a visiting band of ‘younger bakers in the making’, mixed, kneaded, proved, basted with crosses, cooked and glazed thirty dozen hot cross buns in three varieties – traditional, chocolate chop chip and white chocolate & cranberry.  The buns disappeared very quickly when placed on the table.  Colma found a recipe for gluten free buns that received a big yes from people who wanted this option.

A very pleasant afternoon of good food and good conversation.
