Prayers of Adoration & Confession

Watch or 7:08

Prayer of Adoration (sung)

Creator God, we sing
A hymn of joy we’re making;
our grateful love we bring,
as the new day’s light is breaking.
God made the sea and land,
the sun and stars came rolling
from God’s own loving hand,
their Creator’s love extolling.

Refrain:
¡Aleluya! ¡Aleluya!
Cantemos al Creador:
¡Aleluya!

Creator God, we sing
your power and wisdom blessing;
our hope and wonder bring,
admiration now expressing.
The universe maintains
that God in might is dwelling;
and we in humble strains,
of God’s beauty here are telling [Refrain]

Prayer of Confession
Creator God, Jesus Christ, Holy One
We confess that we are often overwhelmed
by the sheer wonder of your love and acceptance.
You name us your own and yet we feel unworthy.
Forgive us when turn away from you.

We confess that we often struggle to fully understand
the breadth of your welcoming hospitality.
You name all people in the world as your own.
Forgive us when we turn our faces away from the other.

Amen

Word of Grace
The good news is this:
We are loved, accepted and forgiven;
we are welcomed home again and again.
Receive this good news and live in peace.
We are forgiven. Thanks be to God.

Prayers of the people

Watch or 50:49

Creator God we bring our prayers for the world.
We grieve for the harm done to the earth through greed and ignorance.
We pray for peoples, lands and nations radically impacted by climate change.
Help us to be bearers of truth as we seek to make a loving response.
We despair at the violence done to innocent people everywhere.
We pray for peoples affected by war, domestic violence, violence on the streets.
Help us to be bearers of healing as we reach out with your holy love.

Risen One we bring our prayers for the church.
We long for a time when all who call on your name will know acceptance and love.
We pray for our LGBQTI+ brothers and sisters who struggle to find a safe place.
Today we pray with joy for Sofia, newly baptized, for Tess, Joel and Rafa.
We give thanks for the many ways the church says ‘Yes’ in your name.
Help us to bearers of your welcoming, heart healing love.

Holy One we bring our prayers for our community.
We pray for people who are unwell, grieving, struggling with study and work.
We give thanks for places of welcome and hospitality, for the Olive Way and Olive Arts,
for the Asylum Seeker Welcome Centre, the Student Houses and the Food Co-op.
Help us to bearers of your abundant life giving hospitality.
Amen
