Melbourne Move Beyond Coal is organising an event NAB – don’t be a COP out, time to dump coal!As the world’s eyes are watching Egypt for the COP 27 conference, we will be hitting the streets, spotlighting NAB’s hypocrisy and greenwash and asking NAB’s CEO, Ross McEwan to fulfil their own climate promises and rule out funding coal- starting with Whitehaven. This is a community led, fun, peaceful event. We will be talking to NAB staff and customers, singing, contacting NAB executives and having a collective impact with other groups across the country during our #NotAnotherDollar Week of Action. November 11, 2022 at 4:00pm – 5pm outside NAB HQ, 395 Bourke St, Melbourne.

Zoom Prayers & Meditation for Our Planet & COP27
ARRCC (Australian Religious Response to Climate Change) WA and Brahma Kumaris Gold Coast are hosting a daily prayer and meditation during COP27. All those with faith in the power of the Divine to heal and transform are welcome to join on Zoom.

Expression of Interest for CoPower Board
The Synod is seeking expressions of interest from any interested members of the Uniting Church to represent the Synod of the board of CoPower. CoPower is a not-for-profit cooperative that has a focus on the transition away from fossil fuels and using the funds it generates to fund human rights and social justice projects. CoPower’s first service is offering retail electricity with their product partner Energy Locals.

The Synod was recently accepted as a member organisation of CoPower. The Synod has a place on the board of CoPower as part of its efforts to address its own greenhouse gas emissions.

Anyone interested in representing the Synod on the board of CoPower should send through an expression of interest by Monday 28 November to Please also contact Mark if you have any questions about the role.

The expression of interest should outline why you wish to represent the Synod on the board of CoPower and any relevant experience. Previous experience on a board or as a director of a corporate entity is an advantage. You should also outline any experience they have in the electricity industry or with renewable energy generation.
