Good News Stories from UCA Assembly

In 2022, the 16th Assembly resolved “A call to action for climate justice: listening to First Peoples wisdom.” The resolution established a steering group that amongst other things, is tasked with sharing stories, expertise and learnings on effective strategies and resources to reduce emissions, prioritising the wisdom of First Peoples.

Towards Net Zero: Good News Stories is the culmination of this work.

Over the next couple months, weekly stories from across the national Uniting Church will highlight possibilities and achievements in moving towards a sustainable future. From local congregations to Indigenous theologians, agencies and Synods, the series is a way to draw the whole Church together as we lead up to the 17th Assembly where the steering group will bring a follow up report on its work this past triennium.

The first story is an interview with indigenous theologian Panninher man Rev Tim Matton-Johnson. Tim shares a First Nations theology of the environment, inviting us into a world where the earth is our first teacher and guide.
