Climate Action Moreland – petitions to Moreland Council
Moreland City Council, at its recent meeting on 9 June 2021, in updating its response to the climate emergency, unanimously passed the following motion: “That Council, given that the impacts of climate change are escalating, reviews its Moreland Zero Carbon – 2040 Framework with a view to developing interim and more ambitious targets by 2030”.
Climate Action Moreland has organised three petitions to Moreland Council – please consider signing one or more these petitions:
- Moreland Council recognises that we are in a climate emergency. Yet they are continuing to use gas in their swimming pools. Some other Councils are now looking at heat pumps to heat their pools, allowing the use of renewable electricity. Please sign the petition to ask Moreland Council to Stop Using Gas To Heat Our Pools.
- Moreland currently has a zero community emissions 2040 target. Climate Action Moreland and Neighbours United for Climate Action has a petition to Moreland Council to bring forward this zero emissions target to 2030.
- Climate Action Moreland has been involved in the battle to prevent the conversion of grass sports fields to synthetic turf on climate, environmental and health grounds. This petition calls on Moreland Council to commission an independent report on Synthetic Turf impacts
