After years of denial and delay, it’s wonderful to have a federal government which understands the need to act decisively on climate change. The federal ALP has increased the embarrassing emissions reduction target of 26-28% by 2030 that the Coalition had set. They have committed to a 2030 target of 43%.
Sadly, we know that this is not consistent with what the climate science says is required to avoid catastrophic global warming. Research from Climate Analytics showed that, if enacted at the global level, the 43% cut would take us beyond 2°C of warming.
Add your name to our call for a stronger national 2030 climate target. 

Join the climate rally in Melbourne
Please consider coming along to the ‘United Climate Rally’ which will be held on 1pm Saturday 30th July (facebook event page here). Friends of the Earth feel it is time for the climate movement to have a united voice in calling for deeper action and are proud to be a co-sponsor of the rally, along with groups like Extinction Rebellion.

Brunswick Churches working together
Brunswick UC has invited our ecumenical and UC neighbours to gather to share concerns, collate ideas for joint action and select one or two options for our combined churches that could be taken back to our individual churches.  Saturday 30th July, 2-4pm.
