Jenne Perlstein welcomed us to worship on 31st May. Today was Trinity Sunday, a day of worship uniquely celebrating a doctrine not a liturgical event. We welcomed Rev Dr Geoff Thompson as our preacher. We encountered the Triune God the Three in One, the Trinity ……The loving God of Creation though the Genesis story and we a Wurundjeri Creation story.
The theme for Reconciliation week this year is ‘All In’ for building & strengthening relationships, respect and trust between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We especially acknowledged our Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress with whom we are in a covenant relationship as Second Peoples.

Almighty and all-pervasive creative God
you come to us in an awe-inspiring manifestation
intertwined as Father Son and Holy Spirit.
God you created us from chaos and nothing,
making us in ‘your image, according to your likeness’
loving us, the world, the cosmos,
Mother Earth seas, sky, plants, animals.
You show yourself through creation,
as flesh through Jesus Christ,
through the ever-present Holy Spirit who loves, leads and guides.
We sense your divine presence in us and between us
In the relationship of First Peoples to their land
And in relationship with your creation today
We praise you for the many ways we can understand your creator spirit;
in the stories of the Hebrew Bible and the stories of the Wurundjeri & other Kulin nations;
Bunjil the eagle and Waa the crow
Thank you for the rich diversity of culture

Let us confess as I read the Penitential Rite & Reconciliation prayer from Aboriginal Catholic Ministry.
Holy Father, God of Love
You are the Creator of this land and all good things.
We acknowledge the pain and shame of our history
And the suffering of our First Peoples.
We thank you for
the survival of Indigenous cultures
Our hope is in you because
your son Jesus Christ came
to reconcile the world to you.
Holy Father, God of Love
Teach us to respect all cultures.
Help us to bring about spiritual and social change
Lord, open up our hearts so that we may hear the message you teach of a world in which the wrongs of the past are recognized – a world in which a reconciled people walk and talk together sharing stories; a world in which all burn with the desire to have your peace and justice reign.
Lord, we pray for Reconciliation:
That the wrongs of the past may be recognized,
That our awareness of the journey so far be awakened,
And that Spirit moves us to walk the talk and see through what has been started.
We ask this in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. AMEN

Good morning everyone, I am Helen and I am doing the prayers of the people today. At the conclusion of the prayers I will take the Christ Candle to the chapel and you are welcome to light a taper for your private prayers.
There will be a time of silence at the end of each section.
Let us pray.
God of continuing creation, we give thanks for all that you give.
For the wonders of your creation from the beginning of time.
For the first people who inhabited and cared for this land,
and told their own stories of your creation.
Holy Spirit, light your flame in our hearts.
Here in this place of safety, we pray for the world of suffering
we see on our television screen and news feeds.
We pray peace, for a just end to the wars that go on and on.
We pray comfort for the suffering of families, children, soldiers,
the wounded and the dying. And for those risking their lives to help.
Holy Spirit, light the flame of peace in our hearts.
We pray hope for those who live with danger
from rising waters, their homes and land disappearing.
For the changes caused to our earth through global warming.
You gave us dominion over the earth and we pray
that we do not keep destroying and desecrating your creation.
Holy Spirit, light the flame of courage in our hearts.
We pray for your church, and for people of faith all over the world.
We pray for the leaders of the Uniting Church,
that we open our hearts to listen for your voice in everything we do.
Here in Brunswick we pray for all who come to worship and work here.
May we love and support each other and make a place
of welcome and comfort for all who come searching for you.
Holy Spirit, light the flame of love in our hearts.
We pray for our community. For those we love, our friends and families.
We pray strength, for those who live with injustice, inequality, discrimination, racism.
We pray for the recognition of first people’s culture, wisdom,
and knowledge of the land that sustains us.
And for the courage to own the wrongs we have done in the past and the present.
Holy Spirit, light the flame of resilience in our hearts.
We pray for world leaders. That they have the wisdom and
the courage to govern for the good of the people.
We pray for an end to religious extremism, and violence.
We pray that we see in each other, no matter what race, religion, colour or gender,
that we are your people, made in your Image, and all part of your continuing creation.
Holy Spirit, light your flame in our hearts.
In the name of Jesus, who sent the Spirit to be with us always.
