Mick Pope welcomed us to worship on 2nd August, inviting us to wrestle with the living God in the hope that we would come away blessed.
We welcomed Gershon Nimbalker, the CEO of Common Grace, a movement of individuals, churches and communities pursuing Jesus and justice together for the flourishing of all people and all creation.

Creator God, you have made this world of wonder and delight
and bless all things with life and all it needs to flourish.
You bless us with the bounty of the earth and the sky.
From your hand, all people are fed.
We adore you.
Saving God, you bless us with your presence in Christ,
where we see you face to face, as a God of love, compassion, and justice.
You bless us with every spiritual blessing to feed and sustain our faith.
We adore you.
When we focus on our wants more than our needs, remind us of how blessed we are.
When we are in need, bless us.
When we see those in need, give us generous hearts to share.
When we struggle with doubt, strengthen us to keep wrestling with you.
Word of Grace
Because we know that you are a loving God ready to bless us,
big enough to wrestle with us in our doubts,
and gave us Jesus as our saviour and example,
we know that in him, through him, and because of him, our sin is forgiven.
Thanks be to God.

Prayers of the people

Father, Mother, Jesus, Spirit,
we adore you;
lay our lives before you;
how we love you.
Father of creation.
We give thanks for all that you give,
for the abundance and beauty of your creation.
And in our abundance we pray for those who suffer,
from hunger, poverty, from war and the struggle just to stay alive,
from discrimination, injustice, and despair.
In this time when we are spending millions in ridiculous wars.
Causing world-wide chaos and the death of innocent people.
We pray for the willingness
to open our eyes to see the need,
open our mouths to speak out,
and our hearts to help where we can.
Mother of hope.
In the midst of all the media noise about war,
the price of oil, and the cost of living,
we pay that the problems of global warming are not lost.
We pray for every being on this earth,
living through flood, fire, drought, famine, landslides and earthquakes.
The signs are there for all to see.
We pray for the willingness to
open our eyes to see the signs of destruction,
our mouths to speak out,
and our hearts to help where we can.
Jesus, teacher and friend.
We pray for people of faith all over our earth.
We pray for Church leaders throughout the world,
strong in faith and open to the challenges that we face,
from past wrongs and the uncertain future.
We pray that all working together we can show your love to the world.
We pray for the willingness
to open our eyes to see where you lead,
our mouths to speak your word,
and our hearts to help where we can.
Spirit, comforter and friend.
We give thanks for our community here in Brunswick.
We come to church, or watch online, to listen and to learn,
and for the sense of your love that wraps around us.
We pray that we show your love
to everyone who comes here searching for you,
for a place to be at home, to be accepted, welcomed and loved, as we have been.
We pray for the willingness
to open our eyes to see you in the faces around us,
our mouths to speak your words of love and welcome,
and our hearts to help where we can.
Mother, Father, Jesus, Spirit, we pray these things,
and the secret prayers of our hearts,
in the name of Jesus, Saviour, guide and friend.
