Jesus sends the disciples out 2×2 to do God’s work in the world.
Love Makes a Way goes out into the world to engage in ‘holy naughtiness’,
standing up, singing and praying for people who are oppressed.

Prayers of Adoration & Confession

And now we take some time to quieten our voices,
open our hearts and rest in the joy of prayer
offering our prayers of adoration and confession to God.
I’m using the word adore in the prayers today.
I wonder what this word means to you.
What does it evoke?
What does it feel like to say ‘we love and adore you’ when we pray?
Let us pray

Generous loving God we love and adore you.
You are wise and powerful, bountiful in your giving
abundant in your loving, gentle in your holding of us.
You shape our lives with beauty and wonder and joy.

Compassionate loving Jesus we love and adore you.
You are bold and compelling, inspiring in your leading,
steadfast in your teaching, gentle in your healing of us.
You shape our lives with words of power and hope.

Ever present loving Spirit we love and adore you.
You are laughter and light, joyful in your delighting
powerful and yet gentle in your calling of us.
You shape our lives with fire and wind and grace.  Amen

And now let us turn our hearts and minds to our prayers of confession.
What can we say to God about the heaviness in our hearts?
What shall we confess today?  Let us pray

Loving God we confess the brokenness of our world.
We confess the damage to the environment
running rampant due to some people wanting more than they need.
We confess the hurt done to vulnerable people
silenced by the powerful, trampled on by their anger and fear.
We confess the fear, the silence, the busyness
that keeps us from speaking out, standing up, following you
with all that we are and all that we have to offer.

In this brief moment of silence offer the confessions of your heart.
Forgive us loving God, heal us, make us whole
ready, willing, inspired and able once more to be sent out by you.  Amen

In the joy of prayer and the healing of confession
In the struggle to be prophets of the new creation
God speaks into our hearts of the mysterious gift of grace.
Responding to this gift we can be confident that
in Jesus’ name our sins are forgiven.
Thanks be to God.  Amen

Prayers of the People

Kyrie eleison, kyrie eleison
Kyrie eleison, kyrie eleison

Loving God our hearts find a home, a resting place, in you
and so we pray with great sadness for our beautiful broken world
for the suffering of creation, for the loss of habitat,
for the degradation of beauty, mystery and wonders untold.
We give thanks for all who speak with prophetic voice to bring an end to this destruction,
seeking instead to honour the beauty of creation in all her magnificent abundance.

Kyrie eleison, kyrie eleison

Compassionate Christ we are your body, the church
and so we pray with great hope for the work of Assembly this coming week
for wise, respectful conversations, for open hearts and minds,
for all who gather in your name and especially for incoming President Deidre Palmer.
We give thanks for all who speak with prophetic voice to bring an end to division,
for those who will love, lead, shape, guide, sustain, serve, nurture in your precious name.

Kyrie eleison, kyrie eleison

Ever present life giving Spirit you sustain and encourage us
and so we pray with longing for people known and not known to us who are suffering
for asylum seekers living in uncertainty, for lonely people in need of welcome,
for all who are sick in body, mind or soul and in need of your healing love.
We give thanks for all who speak with prophetic voice offering hope in the place of despair
seeking to be faithful to the call to make the world the place in which the kingdom comes.

Kyrie eleison, kyrie eleison
