Prayers of Adoration & Confession

Watch or 10:36

Grant us a wise and discerning heart
Be with your people today
Grant us a wise and discerning heart
Lead us to walk in the Way

Life giving God, great hand that holds us,
Guide us to know the workings of your creation.
May we grow familiar with its needs
and become supple as we bend in its currents.

Jesus, who came to disrupt and question,
Help us to shape our way of being in the world
Lead us beyond our own comfort and our struggle to be first,
And let our community be one where the least among us is valued and understood.

Holy Spirit, flowing within us and through us,
Continue to push us toward the path of peace.
Lend us your insight as we seek to become your people.

In our hearts we confess to you, our God,
to the times we have ignored the needs of creation,
to the times we have not looked beyond a person’s image,
and to the times we have let ourselves seek self-justification before understanding.
Let us continue to seek you and remember that we are your people,
Amen

In Christ, through Christ and because of Christ, our sin is forgiven.
Thanks be to God.

Prayers of the people

Watch or 45:48

In the taking, in the sharing,
in the breaking, in the caring;
in the lifting, in thanksgiving,
in out pouring, in forgiving.

We remember you are with us,
you are for us, living through us.

So we praise you for all goodness
love for others, bearing witness,

as we eat this bread, as we drink this wine;
as we eat this bread, as we drink this wine.

As we come to share the mystery of communion with Christ,
we remember all those in need today.

We pray for Christ’s people throughout the world especially in places of violence and division.
O Christ, make us one body in peace
as we feed upon the one bread.

We pray for our families, our workplaces, the communities in which we live.
O Christ, make us one body in equality
as we feed upon the one bread.

We pray for those who are sick, bereaved, oppressed or homeless.
O Christ, make us one body in compassion
as we feed upon the one bread.

We pray for the broken and torn fabric of the earth as it yearns for healing.
O Christ, make us one body with all creatures
as we feed upon the one bread.

And because you are one with us, O Christ,
enable us to share your life with the world
by sharing our own lives with the world.
O Christ, make us one body in love
as we feed upon the one bread. Amen.
