Prayers of Adoration & Confession

Watch or 8:06

Lord, listen to Your children praying,
Lord, send Your spirit in this place;
Lord, listen to Your children praying,
Send us love, send us pow’r, send us grace.

God, Loving Creator,
We reflect on what it means to be part of your community,
attempting to grow together in the direction of your love.
Your process is one of continual evolution,
Forgive us for any unrealistic expectations we have for others and  for ourselves,
encourage us to persist and learn from our experiences,
in the hope that what we reflect will gradually move closer to your example.

Jesus, who came to disrupt families and question loyalties,
Forgive us for our suspicion of others,
encourage us to examine closely the conforming structures of our society
and have the courage to take a different path.

Holy Spirit, the warmth of our household,
Free us from the bounds of our own fears and anxieties,
Keep us moving through our vulnerabilities and indecision
Trusting that we are loved and will find the right way by your light,
even if we can not see it ourselves.
Amen

Know that, although we may face exclusion and injustice,
nothing divides us from the love of God.
In Christ, through Christ and because of Christ, our sin is forgiven.
Thanks be to God.

Prayers of the people

Watch  or 36:53

Lord, listen to Your children praying,
Lord, send Your spirit in this place;
Lord, listen to Your children praying,
Send us love, send us pow’r, send us grace.

Nurturing God, whose sheltering arms protect us
We pray for the world.
We pray for a world that longs for structure and support.
We pray for those with poor housing, unsafe housing: may they find support, and justice.
In your mercy, hear our prayers.
We close our eyes, we breathe. We pray, quietly.

We pray for the Church.
May the church be an accepting spiritual home for many.
May the church be a welcoming community for us all. May congregations welcome the lost and the weary.
In your mercy, hear our prayers.
We close our eyes, we breathe. We pray, quietly.

We pray for the those in need.
May those in need of connection feel connected to spirit.
May those with no housing, find housing.
May those longing for friends find support, and community.
In your mercy, hear our prayers.
We close our eyes, we breathe. We pray, quietly.

In the name of Christ, who walks quietly in front of us, showing the way.
Amen.
