Holy Communion

All are welcome to this, the table of heaven and earth, where we meet Christ and share the feast of the new creation.

We prepared the Table placing gum leaves, stones, feathers and shells in prayerful response to the Word.

Acknowledgement of Country

During our Season of Creation over the next few weeks, we will build a picture of the seven annual seasons of our local area as identified by the people of the Kulin Nation by associating changes in the weather with the life cycles of indigenous plants and animals, and movements in the night sky.

Last week we placed green pieces to represent:
Poorneet Tadpole Season, the season we are in currently.

November will bring
Buath Gurru  Grass Flowering Season
The weather is warm and it is often raining.
Kangaroo Grass is flowering.
Male common brown butterflies are flying.
Coranderrk, the Victorian Christmas Bush is coming into flower.
Buliyong Bats are catching insects in flight.
Balayang the ancestor being is also referred to as the bat.
Around sunrise, the Orion constellation is setting in the western sky. I am not sure how Aboriginal people from our area identify this constellation.
The Boorung clan of North West Victoria see Kulkunbulla(Kool-koon-boo-la) two young dancing men, in the belt and sword of Orion.

In December we will come to
Kangaroo Apple Season
With changeable, thundery weather.
Fruits appear on Kangaroo-apple bushes.
Buliyong Bats are still catching insects in flight.
Dhuling Goannas are active.
Bali Cherry Ballart is flowering.
Bundjil Wedge-tailed Eagles are breeding.
Bunjil the ancestor being is also referred to as the eaglehawk.
Days are long and nights are short.

We acknowledge and respect
the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation,
the traditional custodians of this land
since time immemorial.
We are learning that the land
is not ours to own, but to look after;
and that if we listen, we may hear in it
the calling of the eternal Spirit.
Responding to this call,
we commit ourselves
to work for justice, reconciliation,
and care of the earth.

Prayers of Adoration & Confession

During our bible and prayers today you will hear the Hebrew word Mazzaroth – it means “a garland of Crowns” and is used to describe the stars of the constellations

As we come to praise the Creator of the stars, let us sing Alelluia
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia,
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia
(TIS 702 – Taize)

Divine Creator, you lead forth the Mazzaroth in their season,
You have placed wisdom in our inward parts,
and given understanding to the mind.
You who have the wisdom to number the clouds
and each one of us as your beloved,
You are to be praised and adored
for your Creation of grandeur & glory.

We have not always done what is right with Your earth O God.
But if we fail and fall, can we not rise with your help?
We hear Christ’s call to turn back,
to be in and love the Sacredness of your Earth.
Forgive us, ignite the spark of return.
We ‘re-devote’ourselves to You
and your mighty works in our lives and in Creation.
Amen.

Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia,
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia,

Paul writes to the Romans saying,
For in hope we were saved.
Now hope that is seen is not hope.
For who hopes for what is seen?
But if we hope for what we do not see,
we wait for it with patience.

Sisters and Brothers,
rise up in the hope of our faith,
the renewal of creation
expressed in the life, death and resurrection of Christ.

Hear his creative word to us all:
Your sin is forgiven.
Thanks be to God.
