Prayers of Adoration & Confession

Loving God, creator of all things,
May we meet you in the work of our own creating.
Lend us your patience and care as we seek ways of healing and new life.
Give us the perception to understand broad patterns
as well as the significance of small details.

Jesus, who lived for others,
May we draw near to your path of kindness and justice for all.
Encourage us to extend our hands in compassion and kinship,
And loosen our hold on fearful independence
as we create communities that depend on generosity and interdependence.

Holy Spirit, penetrating light,
Through you may we seek truth in all things.
Give us the courage to communicate with honesty
and listen with the desire to understand.

Support us as we work for peace and wholeness in our relationships with others.
Merciful God, forgive us for the times when we have judged or condemned others,
For times when we have withheld forgiveness or been unkind,
and for the times when we have not given what was ours to give.

Amen

Prayers of the people

Jesus calls us to do unto others as we would have them do to us.
Let us pray now that the truth of God’s being expressed in compassion,
respect, empathy, kindness, and mercy
might shape our actions towards others, and the actions of others towards us.

Ever-loving God, we pray for the world, for all people and all nations.
We especially remember before you those situations
where conflict divides people and hardens their hearts towards one another.
Be with all those displaced from their homes and seeking refuge.
Bring your compassion, respect, empathy, kindness and mercy
for the sake of justice and peace.

Gracious Creator, we pray for the Earth, for the stuff of life,
the air, soil, water and all the creatures of your good creation.
We especially remember before you places
where human impact on the climate is bringing disaster
and pushing creatures to the edge or over the edge of extinction.
Bring your compassion, respect, empathy, kindness
and mercy for the sake of life-giving harmony.

Compassionate Healer, we pray for those in need,
those known to us and those held in the love of your heart.
We remember before you all who are ill, all who are grieving,
all who are anxious or disturbed in heart and mind.
Bring your compassion, respect, empathy, kindness
and mercy for the sake of health and wholeness.

Radical Renewer, we pray for your people the church,
for all who follow Christ and seek to know your ways.
We remember before you those who have felt excluded from
or unwelcome in your family. Help us to build here a community
that reflects your eternal concern for the poor and marginalised.
Bring your compassion, respect, empathy, kindness
and mercy for the sake of the coming reign of love.

Hear the prayers of your people. Look into our hearts
and fill us with love for you in the loving of one another.
In the name of Jesus Christ, Wisdom Word
and Bread for the Broken.

Amen.
