Prayers of Adoration & Confession

Watch or 7:44

Loving God we hear your voice calling us home.
Our hearts are full, we are wrapped round by your love.
We see your love expressed in abundant life
the birds of the air, creatures of the land and sea
the trees, bushes, flowers and plants that we eat.
You call us to be caretakers of this vibrant gift of life and yet
we are not always mindful of it, we are negligent.
Forgive us our lack of care, of gratitude and attention.

Risen Christ we hear your voice calling us out.
Our lives are wrapped round by your stories of love.
We see your love expressed in a simple touch
offering gifts of healing and compassion
giving hope, bringing peace, transforming lives.
You call us to follow you, to be bearers of your gifts and yet
we are not always ready, we feel overwhelmed and unworthy.
Forgive us busy-ness, our excuses and distractions.

Holy Spirit we hear your voice raging in our souls.
Our days are wrapped round with stories of injustice
We see violence committed against innocent people
freedom denied, overwhelming poverty, loss and despair
damage done to this extraordinary planet, our home.
You call us to be your voice in the world and yet
we are not always brave and bold, we are silent.
Forgive us our fear, our timidness and anxieties.
Amen

Word of Grace
Jesus comes into our homes, into our lives
Bringing gifts of compassion, peace and grace.
Know then that in Jesus’ name our sin is forgiven.
Thanks be to God.

Prayers of the people

Watch or 50:00

Invisible God you work your mysteries in the world in ways beyond our understanding.
And so we come to you with our hearts full of prayers for the world.
We live in turbulent times, shaped by war, disease, climate change, injustice.
We long for a time when all people are welcomed and have a place to call home
when the earth is tended with love and held as a gift to be celebrated
and everyone lives and loves in harmony with all creation.
Help us to be your voice, hands and heart as we work together for this future.

Jesus, first born of all creation, peace maker, you work your mysteries through story.
And so we come to you with our hearts full of prayers for the church.
We live in strange and exciting times, brimming with possibilities
as we, the church, finds ourselves on the margins, seeking opportunities to find
new ways to tell your story, to shape and be shaped by the wider community
to celebrate and share your gifts of love, joy, peace and compassion.
Help us to be your voice, hands and heart as we do this work together.

Holy Spirit, life giving breath, you work your mysteries through our fragile bodies.
And so we come to you with our hearts full of prayers for our community.
We live in a time of constant change and upheaval, still reeling from the pandemic
uncertain about the future and worried about everyone’s health and wellbeing.
We are grateful for all the ways we gather as community, love given and received,
prayers offered, stories told, hope proclaimed, suffering acknowledged, compassion shared.
Help us to be your voice, hands and heart as we care for and support each other.
Amen
