Prayers of Adoration & Confession

Watch or 4:20

Let us pray:

Creating God,
You created Wisdom in the beginning
When there were no depths, and before the mountains had been shaped
When the earth was not yet made and the skies were not yet firm.
You brought Wisdom forth, so she could be beside you, rejoicing before you always.

Redeeming God,
You became human and lived among us,
Full of and grace and truth.
In you the Word became flesh,
Jesus, Saviour, Light shining in the darkness.

Sustaining God,
You are the Spirit of truth who comes and guides us,
Speaking whatever she hears and declaring the things that are to come.
You dance with the Father and the Son,
Drawing us into the circle of love, and holding us safely in our Mother’s arms.

We adore you.

Forgive us when we do not respect and rejoice in your creation,
when we do not care for the earth, the seas and skies, and all who dwell in them.

Forgive us when we do not follow your way,
When we do not walk the path of justice and truth.

Forgive us when we do not hear your voice,
When we do not see that everyone is part of your circle of love.

Word of Grace
Siblings in Christ,
God sustains and redeems and creates,
With Wisdom ever present, rejoicing in the world and delighting in the human race.
She calls to us and so we may say with confidence
Our sin is forgiven.
Thanks be to God.

Prayers of the people

Watch or 46:37

Let us pray.

Come God of all the earth,
Come Word of God,
Come breath of God,
Creator, mother, teacher, comforter, breathe your breath on us, your people,
that we may bring your love, peace and joy to birth in the world today.

We pray for wisdom, compassionate mother and father, God,
for an end to war, aggression, exploitation, and discrimination.
We pray for those fighting for their lives, for those seeking refuge,
for all who suffer because of their colour, religion, sexuality, gender, disability,
or just because they are poor.

We pray for wisdom, creator God, you who were there before the beginning of the earth.
Our very earth is changing, with the melting of the ice, islands and coastlines are disappearing.
We are ravaged by flood, drought, earthquakes, and fires.
We pray for a real commitment of ordinary people and
from Governments to work to save our land, animals, and the future of our children.

We pray for wisdom, Word of God, teacher of God’s children.
We pray that all people of faith across the world,
join together and raise our voices, and “our cry is to all who live.
To speak for those who cannot speak, to hear those who are not heard,
to see the world with your eyes.

We pray for wisdom, breath of God, comforter and sustainer.
Breathe on us, breath of God, fill us with your love, wisdom, understanding, and compassion.
In a world full of turmoil and despair, breathe in us
the breath of inspiration, hope and the fire of your spirit to live, love and fight
for the unfolding of your story.

Creator God, Word of God, Breath of God, Holy Three in one, Mother
who has given us birth and cradled us since creation, and delighting in the human race,
be with us as we walk from here, and go into our lives,
to be a witness to the unfolding of your creation.

We pray these things, spoken and unspoken,
in the name of Jesus, our saviour, teacher and friend.
