Prayers of Adoration & Confession

Watch or 7:42

Lord, listen to Your children praying,
Lord, send Your spirit in this place;
Lord, listen to Your children praying,
Send us love, send us pow’r, send us grace.

We praise you Holy One,
Every day we walk through the world Lord, and see amazing and wonderful things.
We take for granted the timeless beauty of the land we walk, the limitless horizons, the busy cities, and surging oceans.
Father and Mother God, creator of all we see,
how do we comprehend the immensity of creation,
yet understand the promise, of your presence with us.

We praise you, Reconciling Son.
You share our struggle and frailty, but show us a way to be part of the continuing story.
Knitting all out parts together in the building of the body of Christ.

We praise you Holy Spirit.
You who walk with us every day, you, who calm our fears,
and lead us, in all our difference to join together and be one.

Holy One , Reconciling Jesus, ever present Spirit.
We confess and ask forgiveness, when we turn away from your promise.
When we speak the words but don’t live them.
You have taught us to be humble, gentle, patient, and tolerant,
but we often cannot see past our need to be right.
Forgive us for our greed, our anger, our fears, our sense of privilege and our feelings of superiority.

Triune God,
Open our eyes to see, our ears to hear and our hearts to understand your truth,
and the courage to play our part in the Body of Christ, your Church.

Lord, listen to Your children praying,
Lord, send Your spirit in this place;
Lord, listen to Your children praying,
Send us love, send us pow’r, send us grace.

Amen

Prayers of the people

Watch or 51:21

God of unity, God of compassion we pray for our world

We pray for all those in countries where there is political violence and changing leadership,
and remember the people of Afghanistan, Yemen, Libya, Peru and Eswathini.
We pray for all those in countries where children struggle to survive,
and remember the people of Somalia, Niger, Gambia, South Sudan and the Central African Republic.
We pray for all countries where COVID19 is uncontrolled,
and remember the people of Brazil, India, Mexico, and Indonesia.
We pray for our neighbours in New South Wales and Queensland,
as they face outbreaks within their community.
We pray for leaders in Australia and around the world;
that they will be led to make decisions that are in the best interests of their communities.

For Indigenous communities around the world, particularly here in Australia,
that their knowledge, wisdom, and custodianship will be recognised.
We pray for refugees and all displaced people,
especially for those currently detained on Australian soil.
We pray for their freedom.
In your mercy, hear our prayer.

God of unity, God of compassion we pray for our church
For all those who serve on committees and councils,
for all ministers, elders, volunteers, and administrators.
For Ian, Dave and Peter. For our moderator, Denise and our president Sharon.
For the United Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress.
We pray for unity within the global and national churches,
and for congregations that struggle to be united despite diverse views.
We pray that we as a congregation, will be committed to serve you
and that we as individuals will have the courage and passion
to follow the path to which we are called.
In your mercy, hear our prayer.

God of unity, God of compassion, we pray for all who are in need.
For those who are unwell at home or in hospital, bring peace and healing.
For those who are lonely, out of work, facing change, bring joy and courage.
For those who are tired, overwhelmed, in demand, bring perseverance and wisdom.
For those who are grieving, bring comfort.
May we, as you people, exercise the gifts that we have been given.
In your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray all these things in the name of Christ, our brother and our redeemer,
Amen.
