Prayers of Adoration & Confession

Watch or 6:06

Our prayers of adoration and confession will include Psalm 148.  Let us pray

Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord from the heavens;
praise God in the heights!
Praise God, all you angels;
praise God, heav’nly host!

Praise God, sun and moon;
praise God, all you shining stars!
Praise God, you highest heavens,
and you waters above the heavens!

Creator God, we look to the heavens and are overcome with awe.
We confess our complicity with the pollution
that fills our skies, making life precarious for many.

Let them praise the name of the Lord,
for God commanded and they were created.
God established them for ever and ever;
God fixed their bounds, which cannot be passed.

Praise the Lord from the earth,
you sea monsters and all deeps,
fire and hail, snow and frost,
stormy wind fulfilling his command!

Christ in the manger, we look to this earth our home and are humbled.
We confess our lack of care for all living things
for the loss of life and diversity and beauty.

Mountains and all hills,
fruit trees and all cedars!
Wild animals and all cattle,
creeping things and flying birds!

Kings of the earth and all peoples,
princes and all rulers of the earth!
Young men and women alike,
old and young together!

Saviour Christ, we look to many in power and are dismayed.
We lament the brokenness that causes harm
we lament the abuse, disconnection and loneliness.

Let them praise the name of the Lord,
for God’s name alone is exalted;
God’s glory is above earth and heaven.
God’s has raised up a horn for the people,
praise for all the faithful,
for the people of Israel who are close to God.
Praise the Lord!

Praise the Lord.  Amen

Word of Grace
Christ comes to us bearing the Christmas gifts
of hope, peace, joy and love,
blessing us with grace and forgiveness.
We can be confident then, that in his name
our sin is forgiven.
Thanks be to God
