Reflections on the call of Christ

At the beginning of his ministry in Matthew’s gospel, Jesus proclaims: “… the kingdom of heaven has come near.” Then he immediately calls four fishermen to follow him. The Reign of God has arrived, and it begins with a call to follow (Matthew 4:12-23).
