Minding the Olive Way Door
Please consider joining the Minding the Olive Way Door roster as part of our commitment to keeping our children safe after worship.  It’s actually a lovely way to relax in a quieter space during morning tea.  Contact Saide, 0407 096 743, to offer your time.

World Wide Knit in Public Day
Join us on Saturday 8th June, 11am-5pm, Olive Way.  This year’s theme is Knit Give and Respect.  Light lunch, afternoon tea, tea & coffee provided.  Everyone is welcome, knitters of all abilities. Yarn, needles, tuition and patterns provided.  Do, do, do …  sign up to  You can also come on the day if you are not able to commit in advance.

Pentecost Sunday
We celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit during worship on Sunday 9th June.  Wear something red – the liturgical colour for the day.

Ecumenical Pentecost service
The Brunswick Indonesian congregation will host the annual ecumenical Pentecost service, Sunday 9th June, at Brunswick UC, 5pm, followed by a shared meal. We join with our neighbouring Brunswick congregations.  All are welcome.

We will celebrate the baptism of Jacob Ly during worship on Sunday 16th June.

Morning Tea – Bring a plate
Every now and then we don’t have enough people to provide morning tea.  So on Sunday 16th June you are invited to bring a plate to share for morning tea.  Leave your plate of food (home made or purchased, either is fine) in the hall before worship.  Glenice Cook, Christine Hornby and Gwen Arnold will be your kitchen hosts.  Any questions please contact Saide, 0407 096 743.

Refugee Week
The Justice & Mission Committee is delighted to be hosting an exhibition during Refugee Week.  The exhibition will be launched during worship on 16th June and feature as part of worship on 23rd June.
Everyone is invited to dinner at the Asylum Seeker Welcome Centre to celebrate Refugee Week on Tuesday 18th June.
Join us on World Refugee Day, 20th June for a conversation with Johnny and his sister Miream about Johnny’s new work, 7:30pm in the church.

Worship Workshop
Do you ever ask these questions about worship? Do you wonder where the shape of our liturgy comes from or how our liturgists and prayers leaders write the prayers offered each week?  Are you interested in exploring the theology and traditions of worship?  If your answer is yes to even one of these questions then please feel very welcome to join the worship committee for an engaging, interactive, hands on series of workshops in June and July.

Peace Concert
On Sunday June 16th at Ascot Vale UCA (60 Maribyrnong Road, Moonee Ponds) we will be hosting a concert by The Castlemaine Peace Choir.

A Quiet Day with presenter Clare Boyd-Macrae, Saturday 22nd June, Pilgrim UC, 10am-3pm.

Safe Church Training
St. John’s Uniting Church, Essendon, is holding two sessions of Safe Church Training soon.

  • Wednesday 17th July at 6:30pm.
  • Sunday 21st July at 11:30am.

Everyone who holds a Working With Children Check card is required to do initial training and then a refresher every three years. Unsure if you are due for a refresher?  Check with Claire Foley or Helen Rowe.
Please register your interest in the Essendon sessions with Helen Rowe asap so we can let the organizers know.
