An invitation from Peter Kahlil MP, Federal Labor Member for Wills, There is no better time for Australia to take on this role. Next month the United Nations will host the first Global Refugee Forum which will invite countries and stakeholders from around the world to work together on addressing the refugee crisis.  The incentives for our country to provide leadership in this area are numerous. Not only can Australia affirm its positon as an important middle-power in a volatile world, but we can provide international leadership that is effective, humane and demonstrative of the values our egalitarian society holds.
