Lenten FUNdraising Stalls
Be ready to buy up big at the stalls after worship on Sundays 7th & 14th April.  On offer: craft, baked goods and preserves. If you have something you want to contribute please bring it along on the day.  If you have any questions call Glenice, 0414 319 649, or Saide, 0407 096 743.  The fun continues after Easter with Helen Burnham’s now famous Pop-Up Shop Op for three-four weeks from 28th April.

Nourish is Back!
We’re delighted to announce that there will be a special session for children (mainly primary school aged) on both Wednesdays of the school holidays.
Julie and Ian will lead the 10th of April, and Janet and Ann Soo will guide the 17th – the day before Maundy Thursday
(We are looking for a kindly kitchen supporter for both sessions)

Lenten Reflection Group

JOIN THE PALM SUNDAY Walk for Justice for Refugees
Join with people from community groups, faith groups, unions, and political organisations on Palm Sunday to stand up for refugees on Sunday 14th April for a ‘Fair and Welcoming Society’ and to ‘Close Manus & Nauru, Bring Them Here’. More information on the Facebook Event page.
Our congregation gathers on the corner of Swanston and LaTrobe Sts. at 1:30 and/or travel in together by tram from the church at 1:00pm.  Look for our BUC and Welcome Banners.  If you can coordinate our gathering (this means take and return the banners, be a visible person as we gather) please contact Saide Cameron, 0407 096 743.

Hot Cross Buns & Soup Lunch
After worship on Good Friday, 19th April, we gather to spend time together enjoying home made hot cross buns and beautiful soups (thank you Ray and Alistair).  Everyone is welcome to the home of Adrian & Anita, 11 Hellers St. Brunswick from noon.  BYO drinks and chairs.

Listening Skills workshop
A one day practical workshop with Rev Andy Calder, Monday 29th April, 9:30-2:30 at BUC.  Please express your interest in this workshop to Richard Arnold (richarn50@gmail.com) or Peter Blair (peteblair75@gmail.com) who will forward you a registration form.

Commissioning
It’s official – Peter Blair and Dave Hall will be commissioned as our Olive Way and Children Youth & Young Adult Pastors on Sunday 5th May, 1:00pm followed by afternoon tea.  The service will be presided over by Rev. Sani Vaeluaga.

Book Launch
Irish poet and theologian Pádraig Ó Tuamawill launch Julie Perrin’s collection of 60 stories Tender, stories that lean into kindness.  BUC folk are invited.   Do SAVE THE DATE: Saturday May 11th @ 2pm in the church hall. All welcome.

Are you interested in having a quarterly daily devotion guide that provides a reflection on the next Sunday’s lectionary?  You need to order the three remaining copies of With Love to the World, costing $15. Faye Findlay will be on welcoming this Sunday, please speak to her if you are interested. Any additional orders need to be in by April 15.

Church Camp

Are you a qualified First Aider?
We are updating our list of First Aid volunteers.  If you have a current First Aid Certificate or a CPR Certificate and would be willing to assist if a situation arose during a BUC activity you were involved in – Please contact Helen Rowe on 0423 009 813 to indicate your interest.  The names of our First Aid volunteers are posted on the notice board in the gathering space.

Padraig O Tuama will offer a seminar ‘Theology as Story:  Believing in the Truth of People‘, Thursday 9th May and workshop, Friday 10th May at the Centre for Theology and Ministry.

John Bell in Australia
John Bell will be in Victoria over the weekend of 11th-13th May during which time he will take part in conversations on God, Delight and Diversity, Non-Violent Peacemaking, Celtic and Indigenous spirituality.  Check out all the details here.

Climate Action

  • on Wednesday 17th April at 6.30 pm, Kensington Town Hall, 30-34 Bellair St, Kensington. Hear local speakers talk about the latest  report from the IPCC, the stakes of the election, and how you can get involved in these crucial final months. Make sure you RSVP to hear important event updates
  • Bob Brown Foundation Stop Adani Convoy is expected to be leaving Melbourne on Thursday 18th April (date, time and location to be confirmed)
  • Stop Adani Moreland – meets every second Monday at 6:3o pm, Coburn East Neighbourhood House

Wills Candidate Forum
Northsiders with Refugees
