Pop-up Op Shop
Helen Burnham’s world famous op shop will be open for the next four Sundays, starting 28th April.  Come along for a bargain.  Contribute to the seed funding for our next Art Exhibition to be held late September.

Church Camp

This year’s BUC Camp is 24-26 May, at the delightful Adekate Lodge. As the theme suggests, it’s a wonderful opportunity to get to know each other better. Listening Skills workshop
A one day practical workshop with Rev Andy Calder, Monday 29th April, 9:30-2:30 at BUC.  Please express your interest in this workshop to Richard Arnold (richarn50@gmail.com) or Peter Blair (peteblair75@gmail.com) who will forward you a registration form.

Peter Blair and Dave Hall will be commissioned as our Olive Way and Children Youth & Young Adult Pastors on Sunday 5th May, 1:00pm followed by afternoon tea.  The service will be presided over by Rev. Sani Vaeluaga.

Out and About

Book Launch
Irish poet and theologian Pádraig Ó Tuama will launch Julie Perrin’s collection of 60 stories Tender, stories that lean into kindness.  BUC folk are invited.   Do SAVE THE DATE: Saturday May 11th @ 2pm in the church hall. All welcome, light refreshments will be offered.

Padraig O Tuama will offer a seminar ‘Theology as Story:  Believing in the Truth of People‘, Thursday 9th May and workshop, Friday 10th May at the Centre for Theology and Ministry.

John Bell in Australia
John Bell will be in Victoria over the weekend of 11th-13th May during which time he will take part in conversations on God, Delight and Diversity, Non-Violent Peacemaking, Celtic and Indigenous spirituality.  Check out all the details here.

Climate Action
For meaningful change to happen, hundreds of thousands of us need to get active, consistently, visually, positively. People Power is the ONLY hope we have. Here are some events you can join in:

  • Wills Candidates Forum on Climate Action and Sustainability on Monday 29th April  at 6.30-8.30pm, Merlynston Progress Hall, 1 Novian Street, Coburg hosted by Climate Action Moreland
  • OnFriday 3rd May School Strikers are organising a #ClimateElection National Day of Action and everyone is invited to join them at politicians’ offices – including 11am-12noon at Bill Shorten’s electorate office, 12 Hall Street, Moonee Ponds – help turn up the heat on our politicians like never before.
  • Stop Adani Moreland – meets every second Monday at 6:3o pm, Coburn East Neighbourhood House

Community Workworking courses
Community woodworking courses for women (trans and non binary inclusive) who are unemployed or underemployed are offered in Brunswick on Wednesday 10am-4pm for 5 week series.
It is co-run with a charity so there is assistance into employment if participants want to pursue a trade-although it can be done just for a hobby. If you know anyone please send me an email- anj@hammertime.net.au. It is $30 for 5 weeks but that can be waived.
