Emergence – Calling for submissions and volunteers
Our exhibition has been rescheduled to 5th-15th November.  We hope that these new dates will provide more time for works to be created and to also allow us to create a companion virtual Exhbition.  Watch Courtney’s invitation.  To artists – please provide your intention to submit by 3rd October.  To volunteers – please complete and send in the Volunteers Expression of Interest.

Our monthly newsletter will be published on Sunday 3rd October.  Please submit your reports, stories, notices, news and photos by email to saide.cameron@bigpond.com by Tuesday 28th September.

Climate Action News

Australia’s Energy Future
The recent IPCC report on climate change makes it clear we’re facing a looming environmental crisis. It is more urgent than ever that we find innovative ways of reshaping the way we generate and use our energy. Despite a few encouraging signs, major obstacles stand in the way. With this in mind, Conversation at the Crossroads invites you to a unique two-part Zoom online event on Australia’s Energy Future.
Thursday 30 September, 7.00 pm-8.15pm: an information session on Australia’s energy future, speakers will be Tony Wood (Director, Energy Program at the Grattan Institute) and Mark Wakeham (Policy Advisor on Climate, Energy and Just Transitions, Australian Council of Trade Unions)
Thursday 7 October, 7.00 pm-8.15pm: a strategy session involving small-group discussions.
The aim of the event is to formulate a set of achievable goals and strategies that we can carry out individually and collectively. You can register here.

Friends of the Earth – Act on Climate
The critically-important COP26 summit is fast approaching and the Friends of the Earth’s community campaign for increased ambition is having an impact in its call for Prime Minister Scott Morrison to match or beat President Joe Biden and British PM Boris Johnson’s 2030 climate targets is getting traction. Prepare to join in a national day of action on October 1st to call for Australia to increase its 2030 climate target.

Why the Uniting Church Supports the School Strike for Climate
A free webinar, hosted by well-known broadcaster and journalist Julie McCrossin, will explore why our church has taken this sometimes controversial position. Ms Mcrossin will interview some key players, across the diversity of the Uniting Church. They include a Moderator, a Headmaster of a UCA school, members of Christian Students Uniting and other adult supporters, representatives of our First Nations and Pasifika communities, and most importantly, students from both UCA and public schools directly involved in the SS4C movement. The forum takes place on, Wednesday 6th October 7.15 pm to 8.30 pm. You can register for the event here.
