Funeral for Julian Somerville
We are deeply saddened as we hold Maggie Somerville in our thoughts and prayers following the death of her son Julian. The funeral will be held at our church on Wednesday 23rd January at 2pm. Refreshments will be served in the hall. Julie McKinnon and Glenice Cook welcome all offers of slices etc for afternoon tea. They are also particularly keen to hear from people who can help with cleaning up during and after the afternoon tea. Main hall floor works – The final coat of paint will be applied on Saturday 19th January. The hall is off limits until Wednesday 23rd January. The contents of the hall are being stored in the Olive Way and the Olive Way program has been relocated to the Youth Hall. The Working Bee to return all the furniture and other items will be held on Saturday 26th January from 11am till we are finished (hopefully 1pm). Worship arrangements for 20th January
Morning Tea will be provided in the Gathering Space. Tea and coffee will not be provided however food and jugs of cool refreshing water will be.
The Olive Way is off limits. Please ensure that children do not enter this space.
Toilets can be accessed from the ramp at the back of the hall. Please do not attempt to enter the hall or main kitchen.

We welcome Peter Blair, Olive Way Coordinator, as our preacher on 20th January.
Ian returns from leave on Tuesday 22nd January and will be preaching on 27th January.

The Olive Arts Collective

The February & March roster will be available on Sunday 27th January. If you are a regular participant please respond to the email sent on Thursday 10th January. We have rosters for liturgy, music, Bible reading, leading Prayers of the People, Welcoming, Morning Tea and Morning Tea Helper, Flowers, Sound System and Laptop operators, minding the Olive Way Door. You can be on just once every two months, more often and more than one roster if you wish. If you would like to participate on the roster please contact Saide, 0407 096 743 for more information.
Are you a leader at BUC – a committee member, roster volunteer, SMP teacher, a leader of any kind? There are lots of us! And it’s great to get together at the start of the year to reflect on where we are and where we might be heading.
The 2019 Leaders’ Retreat will be on Saturday 2nd February, most likely at BUC (venue to be confirmed). The plan is for overlapping groups of leaders to meet at different times:
– all leaders who can attend, on Saturday afternoon from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at BUC
– followed by (optional) drinks/dinner out together nearby
– then Church Council will reconvene on Sunday after morning tea, say 11:30 – 4:00, with lunch provided

Godly Play is a method for telling Bible stories using parables, sacred stories and liturgical lessons with the use of simple materials.
Godly Play invites the listener to connect faith stories with personal experience through wondering questions and open-ended response.
Make a donation to support training for leaders and creation of a dedicated sacred space in the Youth Hall with beautiful resources for makers of all ages.
