The committed people that make up the Walking Together group have decided to change our name.  Why?

What is the first thing you notice about the new name?

We have reduced the name from nine words to three words.

We have changed our name because we wanted a name that:

  • Tells a story about us;
  • Is not too wordy;
  • Is ‘punchy’;
  • Won’t be confused with an exercise walking group!;
  • Is inclusive of First Peoples if they choose to join us;
  • Doesn’t limit us to the Discipleship and Education umbrella;
  • Can be more closely aligned with Justice and Mission;
  • Is all encompassing;
  • Is a stand-alone group, very closed aligned with both JAM and D&E;

We are still the same group of people but please don’t call us the First Nations Focus Group.  Because ‘First Nations Focus Group’ – has a totally different connotation:

“A focus group is a group interview involving a small number of demographically similar people or participants who have other common traits/experiences. Their reactions to specific researcher/evaluator-posed questions are studied.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Focus_group
