Heritage Walk

BUC’s Walking Together Group is organising an opportunity to walk the Fitzroy Aboriginal Heritage Trail on Sunday May 23rd.  We’ll meet at 11.30am at the Moreton Bay Fig Tree in the Exhibition  Gardensdirectly adjacent to the intersection of Gertrude and Nicholson Streets. (The tree is marked on Google Maps.) The official brochure and map for the walk (available here) says this: “Fitzroy not only became the largest Aboriginal community in Victoria, it also became the social and political hub of Aboriginal Melbourne.” The full walk takes about two hours.  If you’ve done this walk before or not, consider coming along and engage some of this important history.
