The Justice & Mission committee is delighted to host a conversation with Joan to mark the beginning of the World Week of Peace in Palestine and Israel.  Join us for afternoon tea as we learn more about EAPPI.

An introduction from Rev. Joan Fisher …

Palestine-Israel is the birthplace of our faith – we share our history with both Jews & Palestinian Christians, our ancestors in the faith.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Israel’s military occupation of Palestinian Territories. Sadly, Palestine-Israel today is a place of oppression, as the Israeli military presence permeates every aspect of life for Palestinians.

I heard about the Ecumenical Accompaniment Program in Palestine & Israel through a newsletter from Act for Peace [EAPPI. is a World Council of Churches program, now under the auspices of the NCCA.] After retirement from full-time ministry I spent 3 months as a volunteer Ecumenical Accompanier in Occupied Palestinian Territory [West Bank], based in East Jerusalem.

Since returning I’ve been sharing the stories of Palestinians’ daily lives, at their request. Our conversation will revolve around several people I spent time with & their efforts to live with dignity and hope.
