The BUC Book Club is adapting and experimenting in response to the COVID-19 lockdown. Our first online meeting was on Zoom, discussing Fighting Hislam: Women, Faith and Sexism by Susan Carland, which we all had as a hard copy.

Our second meeting on Wednesday 29 April will be on Skype, discussing the works of Georgette Heyer (1902 – 1974), an English novelist and short story writer. Members are invited to select a book by Georgette Heyer of their own choice in whatever format they can access. We will chat about the books we’ve chosen, the style of writing, themes and characters.

We intend to continue meeting monthly online, generally on the 4th Wednesday of each month at 7.30pm, until we are able to meet again in person.

The BUC Book Club currently has 10 committed members which is the agreed maximum capacity for the group. We are, however, happy to hear from anyone who might be interested in participating in an evening or daytime Book Club with a view to connecting up interested parties in the event that, at some stage, there is enough interest in forming another book group and someone willing to take on leadership.

Please email  – bucpost@gmail.com Attention: Faye or Christine – if you would like more information or would like to express interest in being part of a future book club if, or when, this becomes viable.
