This landmark new novel from award-winning Irish author Claire Keegan is set in a small Irish town in 1985. During the weeks leading up to Christmas, Bill Furlong, a father of five young daughters, delivers coal for heating throughout the town. Early one morning, while delivering an order to the local convent, Bill makes a discovery which forces him to confront both his past and the complicit silences of a town controlled by the church.

Small Things Like These is a deeply affecting story of hope, quiet heroism, and empathy.

In February we will discuss this short book and share another book of our own choice that we have read over the holiday season.
