Prayers of Adoration

Living God on this glorious day
we celebrate the wonder of resurrection.
The mystery of this story is beyond our understanding
yet by your grace that mystery might
sing in our hearts with the joy of new life.
You hold us in the darkness and love us into wholeness.
You are the living Word, fully human and utterly divine.

Jesus, teller of stories, we are hungry
for justice, for truth, for peace, for hope.
We listen to your words and seek to be your people
in places of temptation and struggle and despair
shining your light of love into the smothering bleakness.
You carried the brokenness of the world to the Cross

Risen Christ, laid in the earth, no tomb could hold you
for you are abundant life, bearer of grace, love incarnate.
Your glory overwhelms us and yet sets us free
to be peace makers, voices for the voiceless
companions to the lonely and broken hearted.
Raise us up anew Risen Christ every day to walk with you
a forgiven people, transformed by grace. Amen

Prayers of the People

On this Easter Day radiant with joy
we pray for all God’s children,
especially those in the darkness of suffering.

We pray for all who are ill or dying,
those overwhelmed by grief,
and those lost in the shadows of the mind.

Hold the sufferings ones in your heart…

God of all mercy and grace:
may they rise up with Christ
into the hope of his new day.

We pray for people living
in hunger and poverty,
with violence and war,
under injustice and oppression.

Hold the suffering of the world in your heart…

God of all mercy and grace:
may they rise up with Christ
into the hope of his new day.

We pray for those who have died and risen
with Christ through baptism –
his Church in all the earth –
in uncertainty and doubt,
in unfaithfulness and betrayal,
in persecution and marginalisation…

Hold Christ’s people in your heart, this community and beyond…

God of all mercy and grace:
may we rise up with Christ
into the hope of his new day.

In the name of the crucified and risen One. Amen.
