We have a crucial window of opportunity over the next five days to influence the Victorian government’s decision on its 2035 climate target.
The Victorian government has initiated the process to set the country’s first Emissions Reduction Target for 2035. It’s an opportunity we can’t afford to miss.
Friends of the Earth Melbourne has made a detailed submission to the panel advising the state government. We are proud to call for a science-based target of net-zero emissions by 2035.
To make it as easy as possible for you to have your say, we have a few actions for you to take:
- If you only have half a minute: Sign onto our submission to the government calling for net-zero emissions by 2035.
- If you have 5-10 minutes: take the official Victorian government survey which asks what you think the 2035 target should be. This will be especially impactful, as your answers will be read by the independent expert panel which recommends what target the government should set. We’ve put together a blog with a list of suggested answers to the questions that you can use and elaborate on if you want.
- And if you’re 25 or younger, there’s a special Youth Survey that you can take to make the case to the Victorian government to set a science-based 2035 target. We’ve made a separate blog with suggested answers to the Youth Survey in collaboration with School Strike 4 Climate.
