Worship is the central to our common life.
Our Worship Statement offers some insight into how we understand worship at Brunswick UC.
We seek to be a welcoming, open and inclusive congregation. Respect for each person's individual experience of God is of the utmost importance as is the safety of children and vulnerable adults.
We are committed to the use of inclusive language. The implications are twofold. We encourage the use of language in our liturgy, songs and prayers that is:
- inclusive of all people regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation, socio-economic status and ability; and
- inclusive for God - exploring words and names for God that broaden our experience and understanding of God.
We also ask that all who read the Scriptures in worship use a version of the Bible which uses inclusive language for all people. We encourage the use of the New Revised Standard Version, and these are the Bibles we have in our pews.
100+ Names for the Divine provides people leading and preparing worship a wide variety of ways of referring to and naming God in worship.
