Prayer of Adoration & Confession
Wise and compassionate God, parent of all living things,
as we sit today, in a cozy, safe building in Melbourne’s inner north,
we thank you for your eternal presence in every moment.
We feel you in the burn on our cheeks on crisp winter mornings,
your movement through the people
we encounter on the tram, pass by in the shops;
your voice in the prattle of babies, and the wise words of mentors,
the grace of a conversation with a stranger;
your infinite imagination in the creation of a universe for each one of us,
and the joy of sharing our different worlds in awe and curiosity.
Wise and compassionate God,
we confess we are not always able to feel your presence in creation.
We are often too busy, too tired, too caught up to truly feel your boundless love.
Help us be vulnerable to your glory;
open and compassionate to ourselves and others
whose lives are burdened and delegitimized.
We confess that we do not always extend
our generosity and compassion as individuals
and as a nation to refugees and asylum seekers.
Forgive us and help us to see the godliness and hope present in the every day.
As you moved through Sarah, you move through us.
As you came to us in Jesus, you come to us in others.
Guide us to dwell in and enact your eternal hope,
so that we may know your love for us, and all of creation. Amen.
Through boundless love, God see our flaws, our fears, our worries and our pain,
and still we receive God’s joy. Hear the word of hope:
Our sin is forgiven. Thanks be to God.
