Prayers of Adoration & Confession

Dear God, you are love overwhelming,
you are joy overflowing,
you are peace all consuming,
you are compassion ever renewing,
you are Spirit in our hearts,
you are Christ in our midst.

We give you our love…

Holy, holy, holy. My heart, my heart adores you!
My heart knows how to say to you:
Holy are you, Lord.

Holy One,
when we fail to surrender to your loving,
block the flow of your joy,
break the harmony of your peace,
turn away the touch of your compassion,
quell the fire of your Spirit,
or crucify your Christ again
with the nails of our apathy, greed,
or fragile faith,
then forgive us.

Make us responsive to your love,
conduits of your joy,
let us reverberate with your peace
and be vessels of your compassion,
that we might live your Christ-life
through the inspiration of your Spirit.

Holy, holy, holy. My heart, my heart adores you!
My heart knows how to say to you:
Holy are you, Lord.

This we pray in the name of the one who lives for us and prays with us as we say together:

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever. Amen.

Hear God’s word of love,
in joy, with peace,
for the compassionate Christ speaks grace here
on the breath of the Spirit:
Your sin is forgiven.
Thanks be to God.  Amen

Prayers of the People

God of wind, rain, cloud and sun.
God of the mountains, the ocean,
the beach and the farms, towns and cities,
speak to us and help us to listen for your voice
as we work and rest, play and sleep.
Speak to us in everyday things and in special moments.
Help us to create a new song in this world
and help the us to listen and understand,
listen with questioning hearts.

God of the still small voice.
Speak Peace to the world when the sounds
of war and terror would drown out life.
Speak with love and comfort to those
who face the destruction of their homes and families
in war or natural disasters.
Give them strength and hope
in their time of great need.
Speak hope to refugees trying to find
a new life and open the hearts of those
who are asked to give them shelter.
Speak hope to the hungry looking
at drought stricken land and empty food bowls,
as we live in a land of plenty.
Speak love to the radicalised in this world
that they cease to hate and find a heart of tolerance.

God of our past and future.
Speak to us of a better way to live,
love and care for our world,
in a time when we think only
of ourselves and our convenience.
Here in this country in this place
shine your light and help us to see those in need.
The homeless, the lonely, the sick ,
the old, the unemployed, the overworked,
the bullied and the depressed.
All of us are in need of your still small voice
bringing love and comfort in the dark of the night.

God of the very air we breathe.
Blow through the world of the Church,
Religions and creeds.
Help us to listen to each other
and join together in this new song.
Help us to learn the new words and
the new tune that you are teaching us.
Blow out the dust and the dirt in our hearts
and set us on fire with the wonder of your presence.

Breathe into us here as we pray
and send us out as your people
to see the world and the people around us
through your eyes of love.
Set us on fire with the joy of creating
a new song for the world with you.

In the name of Jesus Christ,
Lord of our dance and our song
Amen
