Everyone is welcome to the next BUC Arts Craft Meetup on Saturday 7th October, 10am-2pm in the Olive Way. We’ll be making Red Poppies for 2018 and Kangaroo Joey pouches. Contact Linda lindawannan@gmail.com or details here.

Morning Tea after worship on 8th October will be offered ‘Cafe Style’ making use of the Olive Way tables & chairs. We’d love to hear from anyone who can come to worship a little early to help us set up. The BUC Arts group will invite us to contribute to the ‘What is Creativity?’ Exhibition by building a Community Wall of Creativity. Be ready to have some fun together. Colin Hunter will lead the way.

Discipleship & Education presents part 2 of the Spiritual Survival Guide Series 3 – Griefs Observed with Meg Moorhouse on Thursday 12th October. A follow up session with Ann Soo & Jenne Perlstein will be held on Thursdays 19th October.

Get ready for Ride or Walk to Worship on Sunday 15th October. After worship bikes & other non-motorized forms of transport will be blessed. Cyclists are invited to join the BUC Cycle Group for a pleasant ride to Temple Park, Gray St. Brunswick. Everyone else is invited to join them there for a Spring Picnic. Uniting Church in Australia: ‘A People of God on the Way

  • Public forum: Sunday 15th October, from 3:00pm at the CTM Parkville, includes shared afternoon tea beforehand.
  • Dr Deidre Palmer, President-Elect of the national Assembly, will explore the current and future shape of the Uniting Church.
  • Rev Dr Geoff Thompson, established theologian of the Uniting Church, will address the Basis of Union as our continuing theological compass.
  • Join these two national leaders for an afternoon forum to explore where the Uniting Church is heading, and how will we find our way together.

RAC will hold a speak out: No More Manus Deaths – Vigil for Rajeev on Friday 6th October over the death of 32 year old Rajeev Rajendran on Manus Island. Stalls from 6.30pm, Evolens projections on the corner of Swanston & Bourke Sts will start from 7.30pm.

Stop Adani with ACF Human Sign, Saturday 7th October at Princes Park, noon-3pm.  Join us at lake (entering from the northern end) for a picnic at noon ready to be part of the human ‘Stop Adani’ sign at 1pm.  Kids activities and music afterwards.

Stop Adani with ARRCC Prayer Vigil, Saturday  7th October at Federation Square, 8-9:15pm.  Bring an LED candle as we pray together.

RAC’s next major rally calling to Bring Them Here will be Sunday 8th October, 2pm, State Library. The rally is calling to Bring the Refugees on Manus and Nauru to safety in Australia, and to put an end to offshore processing and mandatory detention.  Gather on the north west corner (Swanston & Latrobe Sts) of the State Library gardens and be ready to carry our very recognizable BUCH banner.  (We are looking for volunteers to carry the banner into the city, let Meredith know if you can, 0403 717 714.)
