Sunday Morning Program
During the Sunday Morning Program (SMP) our young people engage with stories of faith, exploring them through games, songs, prayers and art making activities. Three SMP groups operate on Sundays during term times– Prep-2, Grades 3-6, Years 7-10. A wonderful group of people offer their time as teachers and assistants.
Everyone rejoins the rest of the congregation at morning tea.
Youth Group – for Years 7 – 10 Secondary School, fondly known as YUCY (Youth of the Uniting Church Yay!), meets fortnightly during term time, mostly on a Friday night 7.30 – 9.30pm, with occasional forays to Laser Tag, Bounce or the Zoo. Youth Group is led by Young Adults from the congregation who are fabulous! All leaders and assistants have Working With Children Checks. On Sunday mornings during term time there is a Secondary aged group who gather for a program of discussion, chat, interviews and sometimes video making.
YUCY “Original Gangsters” is a safe place where Brunswick youth (in years 10 to 12 in High School) can talk about spirituality and life through discussions over coffee or a meal. We want to create an atmosphere that is open and respectful, while not too serious, exploring what it means to be a young person of faith in 2016 Melbourne. Questioning, listening and being adventurous.
- Culture of Safety – Brunswick Uniting Church is committed to creating and sustaining a culture of safety in our gatherings and activities for children, young people and vulnerable adults.
